TIME for KIDS Interview
Saniya Soni and I talked at length about the WondLa trilogy at Hicklebee’s during last month’s tour.
You can read her interview here.
…and, in case you missed it, Sahil Abbi interviewed me back in 2010 for the launch of WondLa held at Books of Wonder in New York City. Thank you, TIME magazine!

I absolutely love your “WondLa” series. My aunt introduced me to them ’cause she works in a book factory thing. I have fallen in love with this story and was heart broken to find out that the series is a triology. I litterly finished the second book right before I found this website. It took me a few days only because I kept getting interrupted. Sadly, none of my friends know about these books. It is my goal to get more people to read these. Keep up the imagination and writting.
Thank you, Gabbie. The third book will be out next fall…
I love your books. I was wondering exactly when will the next book in the wondla trilogy come out? do you know when the movie will be out if you know? What will the third book be called? I am making a ABC book for The Search for Wondla for my humanities class (that is how much I LOVE your books!!!!)! i love your books and hope to read more!
Thank you, Gaby. I am working on the 3rd story right now and will announce release details soon. The producers of the film are searching for a director to helm the project, so there’s not much of a schedule until we have one on board. Best of luck with your ABC book. Please send it along once its finished, I’d love to see what you come up with.
Thanks!! Do you mean fall 2013 when you said fall? Can I have your email so that I can email you the ABC book when I finish?
You can send the ABC book here: studio@diterlizzi.com
…and I’ve got WONDLA 3 news coming very soon.
Ok
I got an A+ on it!
Love ur books!
-Gaby
Hey, CONGRATS Gaby! Niiiiice.
I meant on the ABC Book thing
What is the name of the third book in the WondLa trilogy, and the exact date the book is coming out?
Hi Anna, I am beginning work on the third book now. It is not titled yet, but will be out next fall…
I am twenty-five and I work in a bookstore, so I was introduced to the WondLa series when the first book came out and the display caught my attention. I was instantly hooked. I recommend this book to everyone I come in contact with, from adult to child. It’s an addictive two books, the characters are so beautifully written, and I find myself able to identify and relate to all of them. Next Fall can’t come soon enough! For now, I will have to just read the first two over and over again.
Thank you, Brianna. I try to craft these stories to work at multiple levels so you get something out of it no matter what age you are when you read it. That enriching experience defines my favorites like “The Hobbit” and “Watership Down”.
Did you mean fall 2012?? or fall 2013??
I had a wonderful time interviewing you! I wish you luck for your following books and thank you for giving me the time to do the interview.
Any time, Saniya:)
Hi! I looove these books.
I finished the second book two days ago. Love!
Just a suggestion, you could make a real tear-jerker if (and don’t ask me how I came up with this) maybe Hailey takes a bullet for Eva and…dies….and Eva finds a way to bring him back to life.
And how come all of the colors in the illustrations are kind of dulled, except for blue??? I think it’s cool, just wondering.
Thank you!!
Thanks for the suggestions, Mika. I’m glad to hear you are liking the stories of Eva and her friends.
As for the printing, the book is done with 2 colors: blue and grey (the first was green and grey). For the next book, I’ll be using a different color…
Hello! I absolutely LOVE your WondLa trilogy, and I cannot wait for the last book! I finished the second book in two days, after ordering it on Amazon for Kindle, so I could get it ASAP! I found the first book on the a “Newest Books” table in my library, and I recognized your name from the Spiderwick Chronicles! I love how Eva acts like she really is young, unlike all other books where eleven year old kids are acting as adults and the adults are treating them like one.
What are some other books you like?
Karsyn
I thank you Karsyn, as does Eva.
You might like reading through my FAQ’s where I list some of the books I like. They are in the ABOUT section. Here’s a link to my fav books:

…I hope you enjoy them, too.
hello! I have read your wondla series and I absolutely adored it! Its one of my favourite series. I am in the middle of writing a book and it is one of the hardest things i have ever tried. How do you stay focused?
thanks,
Isabel 11
This is a great question, Isabel. For the most part, writing can be a long and solitary process. For me, I write a handful of pages each day and slowly they build to chapters and so on.
Because it is a long process for me, I can sometimes lose focus. I just have to keep the writing at the forefront of my daily goals and make sure I keep at it. Sometimes I accomplish a lot during the day, sometimes I only get a couple of pages done. As long as I stick with it, I eventually reach my goal.
Hi I am sorry to bother you but I just finished the second book and I have been wondering about what all is going on for the third I was hoping you had a date in mind of when it mite come out I am so excited about it and hope you keep on going with the series.it’s my goal to make it into a movie one day.
Thanks, C. I think you’ll enjoy this post here: http://diterlizzi.com/home/the-battle-for-wondla/
