Interview at Celebrity Cafe
I had meant to post this last week, but (as usual) I’ve been swamped. Here’s a lengthy interview I did for Celebrity Cafe right before the holidays. Enjoy!

What a fantastic, and inspirational interview. It was a real treat reading through it… I am particularly fond of interviews with artists I admire, it feels like getting a personal insight, and it is always a pleasure to sit bck and think on all that has been said.
It makes me turn towards my dust gathering drawing table and itch to get back there!
the interview you gave is astonishing!
i’m a big fan of your fantastical art, since my dad brought the field guide back from his trip to America….

i graduate from high school this year, my dream is to be an freelancing artist, especially in the fantastical art genre and picture books, but i’m wondering about the details…
so.. i wanted to ask you, you studied graphic design, right? was it helping in the path you wanted to go? or do you think it would have been better to study something else, like fine arts,.. ? how did you get to be published? how’s it to live as an artist for you?
i hope these questions are not too personal, but i’m asking out of couriositiy what to do in future..
anyway, thanks alot…!
i cannot stress it enough, thank you for your very inspirational and enlightning books and blog posts!
I was wondering if you have looked into the wacom bamboo tablet? here’s a link:

Cool stuff! You’re a celebrity!!
WOW!!!!!
that is a wonderful picture of a giant!!! that is so cool how you can draw the pictures so good that is just as i imagined them while i was reading the spiderwick books. your artwork is just amazing.
Thanks Taylor! Send your art along, I may just post it on FFA…
if you haven’t already, You should read Palahniuk’s ‘Survivor’.
I heard that one was good, Gerren. I am a big fan.
I absolutely love it!! Great interview too! You’re one of the most inspiring artists for me, your work and your style has definitely influenced my illustrations and sculpture ever since I saw it in the Planescape books years ago! Last year for comic con I created a Lady of Pain costume inspired by your art and some of the other concepts of her, she’s at my website if you want to see her, sorry it took me this long to tell you about it (getting swamped is fun, right…right?? haha)!
Anyway, thank you so much for the inspiration again, and I can’t wait to see more!

Thanks for the nice note, Holly,
I would LOVE to see your Lady of Pain costume…do you have a link?
It’s a really interesting read… all of the chapters and page numbers count down instead of up.
I sent along a packet of art in November, did u get it>?>
Whoops! Nevermind, Holly, I found it…wow! Can I post this on FFA? I know A LOT of my old Planescapers would love to see this.
