Friday Fan Art
I am nearing the deadline for delivering the artwork for The Search for WondLa, and it has been intense here in DiTerlizziland. I cannot wait to share the new story with you and the news surrounding it. I AM SO EXCITED!
In the meantime, I got a message from a fellow fairy researcher from Europe this week, Álvaro:
“I’m sending you this *”captured will-o’-the-wisp”* from Spain. It’s made of fluorescent polymer clay, so it glows in the dark. I hope you’ll like it.”
Do I like it? Do I like it? You made a will-o-wisp that actually glows!? Holy crap!
I LOVE IT! You made my week, Álvaro. Keep on creating…though, if your studio starts getting swampy, or you suddenly can’t find your way back home, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

That is *amazing*. Now I’m tempted to make one
And how come this didn’t occur to me before?? Álvaro, you are one talented artist.
Thanks for sharing this, Tony!
OMG I love that!
Wow! It’s SO amazing! How it’s made?
Great job Álvaro!
Thank you all. I’m happy you like my creation. It wouldn’t exist without yours.
I’m thinking on doing some other creatures based on your Spiderwick’s illustrations, so you will know from me again! ^^
Thank you!
Whoa! What a dedicated fan! Dude, that is smoking!
Tony, btw, when do you get back from Florida? I just want to know when you will get the letter and fan art I sent you.
Lovely to know this place now! I look forward to mentioning it in my next post! Take care. Blessings and light, Amy
Beautiful! I’ll have to try to make something like this.
By the way, what is the book that it’s sitting on?
hey guys if you watched the spiderwick chronicles film
P
i want to know what is the name of the small white sprites that are screaming and that kidnapped Arthur spiderwick from his family …
please tell me i want to find them on web and must paint them in my self made spiderwick field guide
LOVE:D
They were referred to as sylphs, which are elemental spirits of the air and wind. There is much info on them on the web…so start looking around:)
I can’t find their pictures Tony if you have some pictures and something about them please can you show them or something like that :S
hey Tony me again
I want to ask you where is the original field guide from the movie?
and please can you putt some sylph pictures and flower sprites pictures please please please !
I am not sure what happened to the FG prop. My guess is that it is the property of Paramount Pics and is likely archived in a vault somewhere…
Nothing about the sylphs and flower sprites pictures ;C
Did you go to my site and look? There are many sprites and fairies in the ART section as well as under S’wick in the BOOKS section. Have fun!
I was sure you would putt some of your paintings from sylphs and flower sprites butt you don’t have to if you don’t want
and no i didn’t got your site ?!
please please please Tony putt some pictures of sylphs and flower sprites you can draw them in one second it is not a problem for you,,you invented them there are all from your mind
i watched the movie when one of the brothers is watching the field guide and opens the book and sees sylph butt i can’t see so good how is it looking like or the flower sprites I saw the head of the yellow sprite butt there is not her body !
PS:
did you draw the creatures from the movie field guide ??in the original movie field guide are the creatures better and there are more creatures than in this copy
hey Tony can you answer on few questions??
in the arthur spiderwicks field guide are many creatures butt i didn’t see the most popular like
werewolf, sphinx,Pegasus, harpy, witches….and much more creatures please answer my questions why are not some of the most popular creatures in mythology in you field guide???
We only put creatures in the ASFG that Arthur himself encountered. Having only been one individual, he came across a number of mythological creatures and those from fairy-lore. Also, I wound have loved to have put those beasts in the Guide, but it would have likely been delayed. i was on a very tight schedule for that book.
Sorry, but I have a question that I probalby know many people ask, but, how do you send in your pictures?
I consider myself a good artist, and I really want to send some drawings in! Do you think you can openly post the address so all the hopefulls can have a go? THANKS!!!
You can send them to Ang, Rebekah at: angela@diterlizzi.com
I love the art in Kenny & The Dragon!!!
I’m… so jealous.
You can’t even imagine.
I’ll scout your blog later, I’m gonna go try find a will-o’-the-wisp of my own to keep in a jar and use as a night lamp.
Ciao!
where i can find this artworks book?
Hey, Robbè, there are two books pictured here. The first is The Care & Feeding of Sprites and the larger book is Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You. Both are still in print and available in bookstores everywhere. You can learn more here:
